windows not working properly after Avast is installed

i recently installed Avast and removed Norton. However, after rebooting my laptop windows is not working properly. when I start media player i get a message ‘internal application error has occured’. My Help & Support option in the Start menu is also not responding.
can anyone help me.

Hi, I am having the same problem. I ran the Norton removal tool and rebooted, yet I get the same error message when I try to launch WMP. PLEASE HELP!!!

I can only suggest you uninstall, boot and reinstall WMP if it is still reporting an internal error.

I tried that and it is not working for me. I am having the same problem as everybody else.
