Windows Says Avast Not Updated

Hello, I am running Windows XP Home SP2 Avast home edition free version 4.7.871

Just about a half hour ago avast updated my definitions. About 5mins after that my windows security poped up saying that my version of anti-virus is not up to date. (The program) So I right clicked on the blue “A” and selected “updating-program update” and it said it was up to date. So for the heck of it I went “updating- iAVS update” and again it came back updated. I also tried to restart my system, to no avail. The security shield came back.

The red security shield will not go away, I went to the Avast website to try and find a newer version but can’t seem to find one. Is there a newer one that I am missing and I just can’t find it? If not what could be the problem?

Thank You for your help

Check your system date, especially the month and year and correct it if required.

Well it is funny that you say that. Because I was using the calender and I wanted to see a date for October, and instead of putting it back to September I left in to October and it did change the month. But I have chenged it back, because I thought to look after I restarted the system.

Should I restart again? cause the shield is still there.

It won’t hurt to restart as that may be the only way to refresh the windows security center settings.
