As per the topic this is what popped up on my computer while doing some general web browsing (some rotating ads on one of the sites). Anyway long story short Avast(although can’t blame that so many new things popping up all the time) was running, this thing popped up (Windows Security 2011), closed my browser, wouldn’t let me run any programs. All my usual tricks failed me :(. Came across this site and all the information I found while searching quite a few posts by essexboy & polonus and this beauty of a link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-total-security helped me clean my PC :). Although even with following the steps their it took a wee bit of trial and error. I should add I disconnected my PC from the internet and used a laptop to pull the files onto a USB and transferred them to the PC.
But anyway just thought I’d stop by and say Thanks! Without all the obvious hardwork some ppl obviously put in I’d probaly still be tearing my hair out :P.
Good it worked for you, and thanks a lot for reporting about this. The combined info of the removal instructions at bleepingcomputer dot com and the mixed MBAM renamed & SAS portable scanning via USB proposed here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=37542.msg622771#msg622771 can deliver results and it is good to hear it solved your FakeAV infection problem.

To avoid using multiple post with copy and paste you have to attach the log`s
Lower left corner: Additional Options > Attach ( Malwarebytes log / OTS log ) save OTS log as ANSI
Essexboy will look at the logs when he arrive here later today…
