Windows Security Center recognizes Avast!, but says to be "inactive"

Hi,

Yesterday I installed Avast! 4 Home and Windows Security Center is recognizing it, but it says to be “inactive”, so it displays the “red shield” at System Tray. But when I open Avast! console, it says to be active. What could it be?

I’ve installed on a Windows XP Home, that is not connected to the internet (yet), and I (yet) didn’t registered it (I forgot to get license key that was sent to me).

I found some posts about Windows Security Center didn’t recognizing Avast!, but nothing like my problem.

Does anyone has an idea?

Thanks for your help.

I think that WSC does not recognize avast is the same issue of detecting it as non-resident…
But, did you try the procedure to ‘clean’ WSC and start it again?

Did you use any other antivirus in your computer? Which one? And in the past?
Is your system time and date fully correct?

Hi,

No, I didn’t try to “clean” WSC yet. Where can I find information about it? It’s a bit strange since it recognizes the anti-virus, but not its state.

I previously had Avira AntiVirus, but decided to switch to Avast! based on some reviews that I found on the internet. The computer is 3 months late in updates, so may be some fix in Windows also.

I also decided to test Avast! because I’m currently thinking in installing Windows Vista RC1 in my own computer, and Avast! is the only free anti-virus that is saying to be compatible (at least Avira says no).

Thanks for your help.
