Windows stuck in infinite reboot due to Avast

This morning my PC was stuck in an infinite reboot loop. I didn’t have much time to look at it at the time, but this afternoon I had a look at it and from the minidump it became clear Avast was the problem. I have since uninstalled Avast and, indeed, my PC boots like a champ again. I would have attached the minidump file here for your viewing pleasure, but unfortunately it seems it is not allowed here.

I love Avast, and I appreciate you making it available for free. But it putting my PC into an infinite reboot loop is a bit of a downer. So please let me know if it is safe to install again.

Thanks!

Any other security program that is interfering?
Old antivirus (bad uninstalled)?
You can send the minidumps to

No Tech I get this problem as well, something isn’t right along the line. I uninstalled Avast and it fixed my issue from the reboot loop on 4 machines, I have since reinstalled it and will see how things go.

Minidump file sent, check your mail.

It’s been fixed http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=128242.msg957454

Well, that explains it then. I do use comodo firewall.

I’ll have to go bang their heads together and tell them to play nice together!

After reinstalling Avast, I can confirm that it continues to boot fine. Whatever the problem was, it appears to have been solved.
