Help! Laptop says driver is corrupt or missing. Google tells me the file is from avast.

I cannot start my computer in safe mode whatsoever or access command prompt! and I dont have a boot CD as I dont have a CD drive.

OS is win7 64

I do have a USB Drive

Download the following three programmes to your desktop :

  1. Rufus

For 64bit systems
2. Windows 7 64bit RC I will PM the link due to bandwidth issues
3. Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64

Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus

Thanks! I’ll be able to try it in 90 minutes, sittin in class. I’ll report back

My laptop does not seem to be registering my USB device at all, have tried multiple devices.

  1. usb hdd: nothing
  2. usb CD: nothing
  3. usb FDD nothing

enabled Legacy USB storage detect and that fixed that
its asking me to either:

  1. use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows. Click Load Drivers and then install drivers for your hard disks.
    (Would that be on usb?)
  2. Restore your comp using image you created earlier. (which I made about 5 months ago)

Are you not getting the windows screen as in my screenshot ?

Ah no, I found it. I guess I was being silly

log attached

You will need to repair Avast on completion

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST as before and press Fix
On completion try a normal boot

Good God man, you are a saint

this is how I see you:

So do I reset all those changes I made to my bios? and uninstall all virus softwares and adawares then reinstall avast?

Do you accept donations? I’ll send you a pizza.

Yes reverse the BIOS changes, although it should make no difference

Try a repair of Avast first as it will need to reset the service reg keys and download a fresh copy of the corrupt file (as I deleted that)
If that fails then a clean install would be the next option

Download Rejzor’s Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Unzip Rejzor’s tool to the desktop
[
]Run the tool and accept the usage
[]Once complete reboot your system
[
]Reinstall Avast
