windows update

hi !

i have a question regarding on windows update.

i’m using a CRACK or PIRATED COPY of windows xp sp2 professional edition.

does CRACK or PIRATED COPY of windows xp sp2 professional edition gets windows updates?

Using Cracked and or Pirated Software is frowned upon. There is so much very good Free software available today… a much better way to go!! IMO

No, it will not update if it is a cracked or pirated version. Windows Update will check and find out that it is not a legitimate XP copy and will not allow the update.

źђєкє°¹, crack advertisement is not a good think for forum health… maybe you should not post this and even edit your signature…

oh i’m sorry for that tech,i’ll change my signature right away

I also suggest that you update IE. Version 6 is outdated. Update to version 7. :)

IE Version 6 isn’t outdated as it is still receiving security updates and will be for some time as it came with winXP so should benefit from continued support.

I’m still using it for that extremely rare occasion I have to use IE, I may skip IE7 completely depending on how IE8 is going.

IE Version 6 isn't outdated
It doesn't have tabbed browsing ability. It isn't as secure as IE7. I've found it to be more stable than IE6.

Judging the IE8 beta, I may skip that one. It constantly has problems which require switching back to IE7… :frowning:
Using IE8 doesn’t even allow you to update Windows without going back to IE 7 mode.

That doesn’t mean it is outdated.
I rarely if ever use it, so tabbed browsing is no advantage, I’m no less secure with it and my proactive measures and I can’t recall having any stability problems with it (possibly due to the fact I don’t use it). So for me there really is no advantage.

I’d rather use IE7 than IE6. Indeed, I see no reason to keep IE6. Sorry David, we don’t agree in this point…
I also do not work with Microsoft beta in any case. Don’t worth the effort, Microsoft never helps you or give support when you really need it. I won’t work for them pro bono

Does no one see that since I don’t use IE I see absolutely no point. Even with IE6 as an integral part of the OS whilst Security Updates continue to be released for IE6 then I will stick with it. Otherwise when they stop security updates (which will probably coincide with stopping XP Pro support as IE6 is linked to this version of IE), then and only then will I make the decision on what to do. Who knows what will be around when that happens.

As and when IE8 comes out of beta (and probably before) I’m sure it will work with windows update, which happens to be another part of MS that I don’t use since they started adding stuff that wasn’t security related. I get notification of what updates that have been released, check secunia, etc. to see what is applicable to my system then download them manually and install off-line.

Actually pirated Windows XP do update themself. But only by itself via Windows Update (automatic) and that will only cover critical updates. At least what i’ve seen many times on other machines.
You cannot manually run Windows Update because it will fail WPA check at start…
Never checked for Vista because i’m running original.

That isn’t why I don’t use the auto windows update I just want to have better control over what is downloaded and when. That is important as a dial-up user selecting updated by size (I have a time kick off point when I have to reconnect) so they can be downloaded and installed off-line.

I also found that necessary on dial-up. I did, however, upgrade to IE7 so my daughter could use the same version at home as at school. It took about 45 minutes. Fortunately, my connection was having a good day and I had no time kick off point.
