This request is going to be lacking in information as I am trying to fix my 12 yr old grandson’s computer 4000 miles away. His complaint is that he is unable to get his computer past the windows startup screen even in safe mode. I am going to buy the family pro pack to make sure that he always has protection but to get started I searched for any reference to boot installs and scans but only found reference to boot scans after the program had been installed. Is it possible to load the Free Virus Scan as “bootable” on a disk? I can get him to change his boot drive to disk. I will get windows, ram and HD info shortly.
Thanks Laho
Hello Laho,
I’m sorry but you can’t do that. but there is a solution. you can get one of these rescue disks and ask your grand son to scan with it. you have to download this rescue disk from a clean computer and then burn it to a cd, so that you can boot from that. make sure you set the bios to boot from cd.
so, here are the links:
I would try numbers 5, 1 and 2.
5 can clean most of them.
1 after 5 is acceptable. you may leave out 2.
you don’t need a cd writing software to write #1 since, it has a inbuilt burner which only needs the user to insert a blank cd. others are iso files which require cd writing application.
