It found the first 3 ports open. I’ve closed them, but I hope I won’t have any incompatibilities because of it, will I? ???
Ylap
It found the same thing on my system. I closed the holes yesterday and haven’t had any problems.
yeah that’s strange, my first three ports were open as well. :-\
Having these things enabled is not the same as having an open port: a firewall will block the port anyway. Having an up to date OS removes the risk of attack even if a port is open, but disabling these things removes any risk of a worm getting through a firewall and exploiting an as yet unknown security risk.
It think its safe to shut them down unless you are on a network. As I known absolutely zip about networks, I can’t even say that for sure.
Anyway, as long as you had a firewall and up to date OS, you weren’t at any risk. At least I hope not, because I was in the same boat. I tried this thing today, and it doesn’t seem to have caused any problems.
Ok, is my PC the only one where the third “hole” is not closing. It says after reboot, but it were about 10 reboots since I have this tool. >:(
Ylap
Mine looks exactly like yours but when I first run it, the initial screen that comes
up looks like this:
Ylap. try to check your Services Panel and see if you have enabled (automatic) the NetBios service. If you have a router with integrated firewall, please, log in the html interface and set your hardware firewall rules.
Yep, that’s my router. Thanks!
