Windows xp doesn't boot in safe mode, stops at aswRvrt.sys

Hi ppl, My pc from HP has windows xp 32 bit os, and since yesterday I cannot boot anymore. After starting I get only the Microsoft windows loading blue bar and it goes on for hours, after sometime it will restart again on its own. In safe mode it tries to load windows files, and stops at aswRvrt.sys.
I saw many solutions to this problem, but solutions seem to differ. The CD drive is not working too.How can I proceed? Please someone guide me through this :frowning:
Thanks for any help.

Hang on for a second

Hi, given you cannot boot I’ve notified an expert. I do not know the procedure for a XP 32bit System

Please print these instruction out so that you know what you are doing

[]Download OTLPENet.exe to your desktop
[
]Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.

[*]Ensure that you have a blank CD in the drive
[*]Double click OTLPENet.exe and this will then open imgburn to burn the file to CD
[]Reboot your system using the boot CD you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps here
[*]Wait for the CD to detect your hardware and load the operating system
[*]Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop
Note : as you are running from CD it is not exactly speedy
[*]Insert the USB with FRST
[*]Locate the flash drive with FRST and double click
[*]The tool will start to run.
[*]When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.
[
]It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.

Can you burn otlpe on other computer…

Hey first of all thank you so much. Since the cd drive is not working in sick pc…
I will have to use only USB.

You can use Rufus to burn on USB → http://rufus.akeo.ie/

I downloaded Rufus and FRST. But can you explain me the steps of creating a bootable USB.
It is asking for an iso file too. :frowning:

Hello miracle,

Download Peazip to the desktop
Run and install the programme
As it installs this page will show, deselect the AVG ticks
Press decline and it will then install cleanly

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/peazip.jpg

Right click OTLPE on your desktop and select …Open as archive

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Unzup%20archive.png

Select OTLPE standard

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/select%20archive.PNG

Click Extract, ensure that desktop is selected

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/extract%20archive.PNG

Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/rufus.JPG

Select the ISO file on the desktop via the ISO icon.

Press Start Burn

Once the USB has burnt then

[*]Reboot your system using the boot USB you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from USB follow the steps here
[]As the Programme needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads
[
]Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.

Hey Andrey…
Thanks for the detailed steps.
I saw them in another forum too.Do they work for windows xp too?
I am just confirming before starting :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, they work for windows xp too.

Okay I made the bootable USB. ( by extracting OTP and saving FRST to the same USB) I am new to this. I have a doubt. Should I make a separate folder for OTP stuff ? I just pasted FRST among the files.
I changed the BIOS priority to USB-HDD and saved it.

It restarted and is showing me the options in F8.
Safe mode, with networking and c prompt.
Then start windows normally…
I selected safe mode.
It gave me a blue screen. I attached the blue screen error to this message.

Did i go wrong in any step  :frowning:

Is it because I pasted FRST just like that?

My USB looks like this. :frowning:

Try to boot without FRST, but I think FRST shouldn’t make the problem…

Okay I put otp and frst in two different USBs.
I changed boot priority to the USB which has otp.
It showed loading Reatogo PE …
Then it went to same Microsoft XP loading screen and blue loading bar.

Should I wait? Is it going right?

In BIOS, let HDD boot first, but within HDD priority, choose your USB…

Okay and what about FRST.

It should be in the same USB where otp is or in a different USB?

Should I just copy paste in the same USB?

FRST will be in other USB that isn’t bootable, just plug it in. USB with OTLPE should be bootable…

Okay I did that. I put the first boot device as HDD and in HDD I put the Bootable USB as first.
It showed starting Reatogo-X-PE
And then something regarding ‘press f6’… which lasted a second. So I couldn’t read.

and it showed please wait. and went to Microsoft xp screen and blue loading bar.

and now it went to this :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

The OTP works for Windows xp right? :frowning:
