Windows XP Firewall, Malwarebytes & Avast Internet Security

Can someone please tell me if I should turn off my Windows XP Firewall when using avast Internet Security (paid version - don’t know if that matters)? I’ve seen some comments in this forum that say you should turn off the Windows firewall and some that say you shouldn’t. Also, is it okay to run Malwarebytes with avast Internet Security? I want my pc to be protected, but I don’t want it running at a snail’s pace.

hi lancetb,

1.) No need to turn off Windows firewall when running AIS (which is paid) as AIS firewall is designed to complement and run alongside WF.
2.) Malwarebytes is designed to look for and detect other malware than a traditional a/v. It does not conflict with an active resident a/v program as would running two resident a/v’s at the same time. Malwarebytes Free is not an active scanner (on demand scanner) whilst Malwarebytes Pro is resident and active.

Thank you very much.
