I see this topic has been discussed multiple times here, and I am not sure if mine is the same as I’ve not seen the exact same problem discussed. My problem mimics all similar posted topics with the addtional issue that as soon as the aswrvrt.sys file is encountered in the boot sequence, the PC powers off. I have a boot CD, but prior to using it I wanted to post to see if anyone has gone through this and what the issue is/was?
Could you follow the steps in this thread https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
Starting here If you cannot Boot the computer
Thanks for that. I have followed the instructions. When I boot from the created CD, it scrolls thru the Reatogo boot, then the operating system begins to load, then computer powers off still. I cannot get it to boot up long enough to run FRST.
Sound like either a heating problem or the motherboard
Does the computer start to get warm very quick and is the fan working really hard
I tried a 3rd boot - and success. Running FRST now ![]()
FRST.txt results attached…
OK FRST cannot read your drive…
From the Reatogo desktop select command prompt
Type in the following command followed by enter :
chkdsk c: /r
Then try a normal boot
That seems to have fixed it. Thanks!
It is booting normally now then ?
It boots normally yes. I ran chkdsk c: /r and it ran for hours. The window closed when it was finished so I did not see any results.
OK that shows that the MFT was corrupt … did you have an unexpected shutdown
Yes - as soon as the aswrvrt.sys file was encountered during bootup, it would hang there for a second and then power off.
Keep any eye on it and if it happens again let me know
i have following this thread https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=130459.0 … but i can’t understand how to download attached fixlist.txt
Each fixlist is tailored to a specific system
CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer
It happened again ![]()
I am re-running Chkdsk c: /r
What other options might exist?
I would consider either that you are shutting the system down too abruptly or the hard disc is on the way out
That post was old…
Nevermind.
