Windows xp service pack 3?

I heard that a new service pack is to be released soon will this affect Avast home edition in any way or are the changes Microsoft are going to implement be nothing more than simple tweaks?

ps if there are major changes that affect Avast will they be announced on your website?

avast! is being tested on new Windows builds continuously (just a few week ago, Vlk has been to Redmond to check avast! compatibility with XP SP3, Vista SP1, etc.) and necessary updates, if any, are implemented. When these new Windows service packs are released, avast! (the current build at that time) should already be fully compatible with it. So, if you keep your avast! installation up-to-date, you don’t have to worry about it.
(Though I think you’ll have to wait a bit more for XP SP3 itself…)

thanks again for answering, do you know when SP3 is coming out?

You could check with microsoft to find out.
They have a website and a knowledge base that you can access anytime.

The link to their website is…
http://www.microsoft.com

If their is any information on Service Pack 3 it would definitely be there.

I doubt they will be in any rush to get XP SP3 out the door after all they are pushing Vista hard and trying to get Vista SP1 out.

One of major pros with avast!. You never have to wait for it to support brand new OS unlike with other companies. They always provide support for it long before. Or at least partial functionality if not full. ;D
