Windows XP Updates !

My good people. At 24:35 May 14 2014 I received from my dearest Microsoft the following updates :

Microsoft office 2007 - kb2817330, kb2880507, kb2880508
Office 2010 kb2825635 32 bits edition - Not applicable in my case
outlook kb2880505
Windows Defender ( I was expecting that anyway )
Ferramenta de remocao de software mal - intencinado de windows May 2014 kb 890830

Whatever happened to the End of support of windows XP ?

I am a bit puzzled but of of course very happy indeed.

Do you happen to have any ideas about it ?

Microsoft extended the support by 1 month, you don’t get anymore in the future now though.

Spoilsport !

I came across to that !

This gentleman got office 2010 and I’ve got office 2007 which is still supported if I am not mistaken.

I’m not sure about Office products or any other software on XP, my statement only refers to the XP system itself not receiving further updates.

Support for office 2003 was also ended.

Yes, indeed ! What I am trying to say is that providing you have office 2007, 2010 installed and if they will carry on with the malicious software removal, things aren’t really that bad for xp users. Also you may get the malicious software removal thingy from here :

You may use the microsoft safety scanner here

Cheers

avast! as your resident Anti Virus program will do a whole lot more to keep your Windows XP safe than the tools you mentioned.
Since avast! receives streaming updates if you’re on-line, you’re always protected against the latest discovered infections.
Changing to a more secure browser like Chrome or Firefox is another good move to make.

But of course Bob ! I am using Firefox and google chrome have not used IE since 2006 I don’t even know what it looks like. And guess what , my resident antivirus is Avast it has been for 10 years now.
In Avast we trust

And that is exactly the Office version that my computer has. Doh!
Ehhh, it doesn’t worry me one bit.

I guess support for Office97 is out of the question then ;D

And it doesn’t worry me in the slightest either.

Are you planning on selling this on Ebay as relic ??? ;D

Nah, lots of life left in that old dog yet ;D
It still does everything I need of it.
