Enhanced Keylogger Detection
The use of keyloggers for illegal purposes has exploded. A Schenectady man was recently jailed for up to three years for felony eavesdropping after putting a keylogger on his wife’s computer. I’ve heard too many stories of abuse made possible due to keyloggers so it’s time for it to stop. While WinPatrol PLUS had always detected keyloggers we’ve enhanced this feature and it’s now available to free users so everyone is protected.
Interactive PLUS code Activation
Unfortunately the number of users depending on illegal PLUS codes has become a problem. While honored by the worldwide popularity of WinPatrol this could slow down access to PLUS information by our paid supporters. Our new version will do more to screen out invalid codes. In a few cases, users may find their valid codes are no longer working correctly. Those affected can write to support @ WinPatrol.com and we’ll make sure they receive the correct code.
Optimized Detection of New Services
As more and more programs move to the Windows Service model it become apparent that this may be a popular avenue of attack in the future. The routine used to monitor and detect new Window Services has been optimized to make this process transparent.
Decrease CPU Usage and Conflicts
Conflicts with some other registry intense programs may have resulted in abnormally high CPU usage on past versions. WinPatrol 14 includes some intelligent routines to allow complete protection without fighting over resources with other security suites and system level programs.
Default -expresskboot option
WinPatrol now includes a -expressboot option which will be used when machines boot up for the first time. This new feature optimizes boot time and allows other applications to maximize their initialization routines.
Regular Registry Cleanup
Some registry cleaners have complained that we don’t clean up some data stored in the registry quickly enough. This version will remove information that is no longer needed and “First Detected” information on a regular basic when the file no longer exists.
Multiple copies of WinPatrol in startup
Occasionally, users have written to let us know they have multiple copies of Scotty in the list of Startup programs. This version can correct any errors by checking the “Automatically run WinPatrol” box under the Options tab.

Has somebody successfully downloaded the setup file? I can still only download 90% of it without successfully installing the program on my Vista PC. ???

I downloaded WinPatrol 14 & successfully installed it on both of my XP computers. It works good without any problems.

The only time I’ve ever had a problem with any version of WinPatrol was when it first came out with the start-up delayer. The start-up delayer corrupted two of my programs I put in delay, Big Fix & Weather Watcher. Bill P. soon fixed it, I’ve had no more problems with WinPatrol.

avast! & WinPatrol are two of the most “perfect” & effective softwares I’ve used.

Something is interfering with the download on my Vista PC. It exactly stops downloading at 1 s from the end! Some software, PC Tools Firewall, SpySweeper or SpywareTerminator, I don’t know. Thanks for letting me know!!

I’m running Spyware Terminator & PC Tools Firewall Plus, they didn’t block my download of WinPatrol. Maybe SpySweeper.

Check your configurations in your security programs.

Try downloading WinPatrol with Opera. Sometimes Firefox would give me trouble downloading stuff. That was one of several reasons I switched to Opera.

Do you really need both SpySweeper & Spyware Terminator? On-demand scans with SAS free & AVG AS free show ST does an excellent job, I’m spyware/malware free.

Two real-time anti-spywares have the potential to conflict. Maybe that’s your problem???

On their site,it says if you have trouble downloading,to delete your temp internet folders contents.Error 403 Forbidden.Although your problem probably lies elsewhere.

Thanks Guys!!! I shutted down SpySweeper Real-Time protection leaving only the ST Real-Time protection enabled and it solved the problem. SpySweeper is too powerful and thorough!!! I have to decide wether to keep two Resident Protection Antispyware ON since it seems to interfere too much with whatever I do. Thanks again!!!

I’ve noticed that since the last update, Winpatrol has asked for permission on
several old and previously installed programs.

Has any one else experience this?

WinPatrol v14.0.2007.1 Fixed bug in caused by compiler optimization error. On some systems the alert of new startup programs may be delayed. remove prior version then install.... http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

If not, I would suggest you try that. (Reminder: before installing the update, right-click Scotty in the task bar and select "Exit Program".)

It was after updating to that version that my reminders started.
I’ve now uninstalled and re-installed the latest version.

You no longer have to exit WinPatrol when updating to newest version, the installer will do it for you, at least it did it for me on XP.

Thanks, rdmaloyjr. I’m so used to closing whatever software I’m updating, I forgot about that change.
