WinSpywareProtect keeps popping up on my screen and warning me that I have “oh no”…viruses. Also, MS IE Security pops up and tells me that I need to install a virus protection program. I have Avast installed. Is that not enough? And, how the heck do I get rid of that WinSpywareProtect nuisance??
The pop ups you are getting are from a virus. It’s trying to trick you into paying for fake security (winspywareprotect). Download Malware byte’s anti malware and run a scan it should detect it.

It’s free, but you can buy it for resident protection but, since you have Avast! you don’t really need it.
Thanks for the link. It seems to be working just fine now.
It isn’t a virus as such but scam/scumware trying to get you to buy the solution to the non-existent problem.
