Wizmo.exe - false positive file is still locked

Avast has gone trigger happy again. Several system files are suddenly being false positive alarmed again, and now it found a pattern in Wizmo.exe which I have had for years. It is designed to allow the user to click and shut down the computer, put it to sleep or hybernate it. Now I have to go across town to the computer and manually turn it off.

How do I get access to my wizmo file again? I don’t want to make a 40 mile round trip back to the office to turn a computer off.

Thank you

I disabled avast online protection. That released wizmo so I could shut down the computer.

I am learning to really love my ubuntu linux more and more every day. Super fast and no AV clogging up the system.

If avast put it in the virus chest, then you can open the avast window and find it under Maintenance/Virus Chest. You should be able to right click the file (or somewhere there will be an option) to restore the file and add it to the exclusions list. You can also upload it as a false positive so Alwil staff can confirm that it is a false positive and add it to their database so it is no longer flagged.

You can also go to www.virustotal.com and upload the file (10MB file size is the limit I believe) and it will scan the file with over 41 different anti-virus applications and you can see if it indeed is a false positive or if it was malicious all along.
