Any way to cleanse the files without deleting them? I have searched the internet on how to cleanse them without any luck.

I don’t think so- it’s likely to be a fake anyway- the name is just a lure to get you to download the file and then install the Trojan codec.

I have the same problem. I used the MP3 Repair Tool to remove everything before the first frame of the mp3 files . (0 seconds). This destroyed the WMA: Wimad [drp]. The only problem is the mp3 files wouldn’t play now. Still experimenting.
What I noticed is that the original infected files will only play in WMP as mp3. When I changed the extension to .wma they played fine in other media players, although they are still infected.

What I did to cleanse my mp3s of the annoying WMA: Wimad [drp] was to change the extension to .wma and then convert them to .mp3(Blade) using DBPowerAmp. I tried to convert them the mp3(Lame) but the results were unsatisfactory.
