won't auto update

avast free 7.0.1456
windows 7 32 bit
windows firewall
past security software:
avg free
mcafee security plus
windows defender
microsoft security essentials
ad aware free
all of my past security software was uninstalled using add/remove programs

I have done the avast repair option. I used the avast uninstall utility and re installed avast. In the update settings I have checked ‘my computer is permanently connected to the internet’. The proxy settings are direct connection (no proxy). This started about 2 months ago. It will update if a manually click update in avast.

i recomend you run uninstall tool for all previous used security programs to clear all leftover files that may conflict

run and reboot - Uninstallers – Security Software

http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

you may also run CCleaner and the registry clean option
CCleaner - slim (no toolbar) http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

I ran the uninstall utilities. I ran a registry cleaner. It still won’t auto update.

now remove avast with the uninstall tool…reboot…install again…reboot

did that do it ?

No it still won’t auto update

boot kick the computer out the window and buy a new. ;D

naaaa… i am out of ideas. :-. anyone else out there. ???

Maybe…

then we have a much better tool here… OTL

you can do that, then Essexboy can have a look inside and see if he spot something strange

how to get a OTL log you see here in this guide. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

  1. Yes…that was my thought.
