This weekend i reintalled my laptop with Win7.
Since i was at home i couldnt join the domain at work yet, but i wanted to be protected so i installed the msi file that i created with ADNM without bein in the domain.
When i came at work i booted, joined the domain and i wanted to see if there was communication between my laptop and the ADNM. For that i did a discovery job.
In the list of found stations i saw my laptop and the notification that it was placed in the sbbzwn_global computer group (where my standard discoveries are placed)
Unfortuanately i didnt see my laptop there.
Accidently i clicked on the computer catalog node itself and there was my laptop twice. Once as a workgroup (logical since it communicated with the ADNM before i joined it to the domain) and once with the domain with it (also logical since it communicated with the ADNM when it booted up again after joining the domain)
now i have these points:
- ADNM reported the station was placed in the sbbzwn_global node, which was incorrect since it was placed in the computer catalog node directly.
- the station was added twice even tho it was the same station, just the network setup changed, leaving all guid’s in tact, meaning it shouldnt be double inserted
also its rather impossible to have a computer with the same name twice on the network, nomather which domain it joined since the NETBIOS protocol prevents it.
unless netbios is disabled across the network, which in almost all networks is not the case…
i consider these bugs to be solved before the ADNM for avast5 is released
