Working PIN unaccepted by Nexus 7

The same PIN that works on my HTC phone, doesn’t work on my Nexus 7. Am I missing something obvious?

I’ve had the PIN reset via phone, no change. I’ve changed the PIN via avast on the phone, no difference.
I’ve uninstalled it from the tablet, re-installed it via Google Play… only to be asked for the PIN on the opening of the program once installed. Do separate android devices need separate PINs? I don’t remember needing a PIN before even doing the set up!

I’ve unpaired it from my account after a few passes, so now it’s completely off the records. It shouldn’t be asking for a PIN anymore… but it does.

With the phone, once I put in the PIN, I see the green check appear, and I am given access without even needing to hit the ‘OK’ button. I’m assuming that’s normal. But with the tablet, I hit the ‘OK’ button and I get the red exclamation mark.

Help please!

[I’ve attached a screenshot… but I don’t think it will help, since it’s the typical faulty PIN screen]

one PIN is only valid for ONE device, PINs might be different on different devices!

Hi,

yeah, different devices have different PINs (or can have, you can, of course, set up the same PINs) so you probably entered a different one on that device.

Oh… drat.
Okay, I went in and uninstalled both anti-theft and mobile in Safe-mode. Re-installing mobile now… It works; I’m in!

Thanks for all your help, I think I’m good to go now.
