Worried sick.

Hi, I use avast and a chinese AV named 360, based on Bitdefender’s engine. Ever since I downloaded avast, some of my firewall in 360 has been disabled. Is it because (and i feel its a possibility) that when avast is scanning, 360 shuts down some of its firewall to allow avast to scan properly? Or is there malware? I am using avast free w/o the firewall by the way. I also installed avast as the second line of defence. Thanks for helping.

Having two resident anti-virus scanners installed is one too many and not recommended as rather than provide twice the protection it can cause conflicts that could leave you more vulnerable.

So should I keep avast only or 360. 360 only detects what it considers “worms and viruses” and not malware or trojans, but if i use avast, I am left vulnerable with no firewall. Any suggestions? Anyway thanks for that really prompt reply

Well I wouldn’t use any 360 product (or other program from that company), you only have to check the forums and or google to see they have a past history.

I use Outpost Firewall Pro, which is a paid option so I don’t have any experience of free firewall options, but there are free firewalls out there, but as I don’t have personal experience of them I can’t really advise.

ut if i use avast, I am left vulnerable with no firewall.
you have windows firewall. ;)

Wow thanks guys! But i would like to keep my 360 as my dad REALLY likes it, but i want some free options, not paid. Hmm, can you offer any solutions to such a lame problem

And uh my windows firewall is disabled and i don’t particularly trust it. ;D

do you mean IObit 360 http://iobit-security-360-pro.en.softonic.com/

some info about IObit company you may want to read

Nope, my AV is chinese, called 360杀毒。

It might well be called that but the company behind it is IObit, even if it isn’t it is still the issue of having two resident anti-viruses installed one has to go.

Ok, thanks. But now i have a weird problem. I uninstalled a program, so my (:C) now has 125 gb of space. But after i installed a FTP program for academic use, my disc space is now 119gb!! Alarmed, i tried some methods (e.g. show hidden folders) but none of them actually convinced me that it was taking all the space

ok, so it must have been because of one of my downloads in Bittorrent. But this is really interesting, my 360 firewall got disabled AGAIN. And im pretty sure it not because of avast. avast had a virus definition update, then i scanned my computer wit 360. Firewall OK. After Bittorrent download started, i scanned again, Firewall (parts of it) disabled. Why? Im a worrywart, sorry for the many questions

and IE has been producing quite a bit of trash recently, every scan i make, trash files in IE are detected. (scanned with 360, of course)

Avast free doesn’t have a firewall so there is no requirement or function to disable your firewall. As long as you have two resident antivirus applications installed you are likely to see conflicts appear in different forms.

We simply can’t help you track down possible conflict issues with 2 AVs installed. We have given you are advice, it is up to you to act on it.

yes…IObit is a Chinese company

and installing two AV will give you mysterious Windows errors and false detections

I would most certainly give iobit the push. :(.Although by 360 it could also mean Qihoo av which is more specific to chinese malware although quite how malware can be localised is a mystery as it is the world wide web,but there you go. 8)

Great, now my Windows is producing a lot of temporary files, never happened before. I have no idea what is happening now. 360 detected almost 200mb in temporary files, 12 mb in IE files (cookies? idk, its in chinese.) Windows also producing many cookies, why?
