Wrong computer name shown in Avast

Hi. I hope I’m writing to correct forum. I have a curious problem with Avast Business.

I have Avast Business Security installed. The thing is, administrator can’t find my computer in devices list. It might be that my computer is shown with wrong name on the list, so we can’t figure out what my computer is in the list.

I’m not sure, but I think the problem is that:

  • my computer name was COMPUTER-ASDF9283WHATEVER
  • I installed Avast
  • I changed my computer name to MIGHTYMOUSE

And now administrator is seeing COMPUTER-ASDF9283WHATEVER, not MIGHTYMOUSE in the devices list. The problem is that I don’t know/can’t recall what my computer name originally was. And we can’t just delete every device in the list so that Avast could reread them. Or can we?

Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We managed to identify my computer by IP address.

Hi, in the device list there is an option to display:

  • Device alias - a name you are using in the Business Hub console
  • Real name - a name of the device itself (taken from the OS).

Try to add the “real name” column to your view and search through values in that column.
