Wrong display of accentuated chars

Hello,
First test of avast! 4.1.304 with 0311-3 on a WinXP SP1 french.
A wrong display of accentuated characters occurs for files names during the scan.
Example: the folder “Système” (translation of english System) displays as a “c letter with accent” and not as a “e letter with accent”.

Impressive product at first look. But needs a french version to replace Norton for the casual user.

Where exactly is it displayed incorrectly? Inside the Simple User Interface (currently scanned file), or somewhere else (other dialogs, Enhanced User Interface, …)?

The translation of avast! to French is in progress, hopefully it will be ready soon.

Btw, I hope the French folder “Système” is not the name of the Windows system folder… or French Windows uses a localized name of this folder??

It is inside the Simple User Interface (currently scanned file).

Yes, some names are localized. For example:
US - C:\Program Files\Common Files
FR - C:\Program Files\Fichiers communs

The complete scanned file name is:
D:\Logiciels\Système.…
repository for install files.

Unfortunately, this is how it is - the avast skin uses custom font that can’t handle well non-English characters. Other screens should be OK, and you may also try to use a different skin…

OK, I know even “Program Files” are localized somewhere… I was just surprised that even the “system” folder would be.

According to what Vlk says, the problem is in the skin font… and I guess this problem will have to be addressed sooner or later…

Vlk, you’re right… I have troubles with some skins and my ‘demo’ Portuguese translation too ;D
I have already asked for ‘skin makers’: please, do not use bold or restricted (not all characters) fonts. The message won´t fit in the window or will appear ‘wrong’, without acents and so on…

Well in the next release hardly - that one should be this week

But basically yes, you can look forward to seeing setupfra.exe in the near future…
