WTH is Wrong with avast?

so i downloaded avast internet security like 3 days ago and i have a bunch of problems with the safe zone.

1: sometimes when i open safe zone after like 1 mins of browsing the whole thing goes unresponsive and the only way to fix it is to cut the power and restart my computer because it wont even let me close the safezone
2:sometimes the browser wont even open.
3:sometimes the browser wont connect to the internet
4: after closing the safe zone most of the time there is a problem with my computer sometimes it goes unresponsive and i have to restart it :frowning:
please help

A lot of Safe Zone issues have been fixed by a clean install…

I’d recommend a clean install…

  1. Download the right aswclear and the appropriate program

v8 and below : http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
v9: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe

  1. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
  2. Uninstall in safe mode using aswclear (v8 or below) or avastclear (v9) [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel just install it]
  3. Download and install your version
  4. Reboot.

You can insert license file during install or after reboot. (If using paid version)

Whats the diffrence between a clean install and a normal one?

It ensures that all of the files of the Antivirus are gone and new ones are put in place instead of going over the top. Will rule out the possibility of a corrupt install and in major upgrades files are removed and added so it’s just for the benefit.

If this is true then why do the avast developers say that a new version will install over a previous one.
Maybe they should insist on a clean install to start with. 8)

The majority of the time the upgrade will complete properly and successfully, however not on other occasions. It’s more convenient to the it via Program updater too since clean install is time consuming compared via the GUI.
