www blocked even after uninstalling avast

access to net is blocked even when I’ve uninstalled Avast 4
I’ve had uninstaled it when I’ve found that nothing was working properly, even when all avast programs were allowed to access the net by zonealarm

so I’ve unistalled whole avast, and nothing worked properly, so I’ve also switched off and then unistalled zonealarm, and still!! the web isn’t working, i can ping all sites, download via p2p progz, get mail, but not browse the web.

I’ve tried to change all settings of firefox proxy but id also doesn’t work ;/
installation of windows sys files also hasn’t repeared anything
in madness I’ve cleaned the registry from any avast entries…

without browsing web for 48 hours… ;/ terrible, can anybody help me with this?

os: win xp sp2
newest zonealarm
newest avast home edition

any ideas??

Try resetting the winsock.
start, run, cmd, netsh winsock reset catlog (iirc)

it still doesn’t work, even after reseting winsock ;/
it looks like the avast proxy was still active but it’s not working properly, but can the proxy be left after uninstalling the soft?

any other ideas ?

Only if things really go wrong it can be left.
But that is not likely.
There is a uninstall utillity on www.avast.com, give that a try.

You may be have those URL’s blocked by something else, as “hosts” file or them are in blocked pages, or is blocked in you router. Or them not exist any more.

What you se in you browser when page blocked? What make you think that it is avast?
