XP getting stuck after aswrvrt.sys (frst.txt attached)

Hiya.

I have been given a friends Win XP laptop to see if I could figure out why it doesn’t boot anymore.
Upon starting safe mode it gets stuck after aswrvrt.sys
A Google search brought me here and showed people were running frst then posting their frst.txt files here and getting some help.

I have attached my frst.xp.
Hopefully someone can help me.

Cheers in advance.

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST as before and press Fix
On completion try a normal boot

Cheers for the speedy reply.
Will give that a go,

Nope still crashing with a BSOD. :frowning:
Part of it says:
“…The problem seems to be caused by the following file: fssfltr_tdi.sys
The driver unloaded without cancelling pending operations…”

Are you able to get into safe mode now ? As that driver should not be called there

Nope.
Still sticks after aswRvrt.sys

I have included a new frst scan log (just in case it’s of any use)

Btw, I managed to talk to the PC owner today and she mentioned that she believes it did start going wrong straight after an update. She said an Avast update (but did admit she doesn’t know much about PC’s, so it could have been a Windows update)

OK this will disable both Avast and the family safety filter

Avast will need to be repaired on completion

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press FIX
On completion try a normal boot

Excellent! That booted fine this time.
hat should I do to repair Avast now?

OK first you will need to uninstall Family safety http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-live/family-safety-remove-uninstall-faq

Then do a clean install of Avast

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstalltool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[
]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast

Isn’t there an other fair way that avast can fix rather to remove third party tools? :-[

here “hectiv-mmv” send me a mail about “fssfltr_tdi.sys” issue

We have finally found it. It was incompatability of unloading fss driver and some other our drivers. In about 4weeks we gonna release new version fixing also this problem.

There should be easy woraround. Uninstall Family Safety Filtery as you are writing. It is the main cauze of issues.

this issue should be fixed with our latest emergency program update. It is valid for version 9.0.2008.

ps:same issue today for a french user here, I also say him to remove Family safety , but it is a bit annoying to do so…

Do we really need family saftey uninstalled? The pc is mainly used by kids.
If so do you know any free replacements that work?

Cheers fr the help
