XP hangs at this ,system32\drivers\aswrvrt.sys.
Any help would be appreciated.
Here is a log.
First we will try a restore point … Let me know if it works
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST as before and press fix
On completion try a normal boot
Have tried that, totally unsuccessful. A little more info for you, it looks like its about to load all the way and then it restarts the system. When i do command prompt, the line i put in the original test is where it stops at.
Thanks
Tried the fix, it didnt work.
Try one further restore point a bit further back
Download the attached fixlist and repeat the previous method
Still didnt work. The only point at which it will let me go to is the last known good configuration. And it just starts to loop again (restarting love r and over)
What did you do prior to the hanging ? As aswrvt is the last driver to load successfully
It wasnt me it was my mother who is 82. So she isnt real sure, but i think there was either and update for avast or a windows update she may have shut it down on.
I think a repair install may be required, do you have the windows CD
Unfortunately it was lost in the move she made last year, I too was think a reinstall Any suggestions?
You could borrow a copy and do a repair
I think i found a copy, was in an unusual place. Thanks for all of your help.
I would keep it, it may come in handy 8)
It seems that the xp my mom is running is xp media center edition 2005, xp pro volumen license/oem…not sure the xp install i have will work.
A repair install with what you have should work http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/138-how-to-repair-windows-xp/
