Hi initially we will try a restore point
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press fix
On completion try a normal reboot
Many many thanks, it just booted.
I removed AVAST when it booted in safe mode.
Now it is in normal mode, everything looks fine !!!

Alas !! Spoke too soon !!!
I uninstalled and installed avast 2014 again but xp hanged again on the same file.
I uninstalled Avast, installed AVG 2014 but it hanged again !!! I used the initial fixlist and now it hangs on mup.sys
I would very much appreciate your assistance once more. It looks like it needs a hd format but I would like to be able to
backup some files.

From the reatogo desktop you have all the backup options on a normal XP. I.e. burn to disc or USB so you can use that

Its my outlook mail that I would like to backup. I am not sure if I can do that without having loaded xp.
If you can tell me that there are ways to do it , I will find a way, no need to bother you again.
