Ok from what I can tell the hard drive seems to fine. Nothing showed up for the unc x.
Ok good. That is good news at least.
Please run a new scan with FRST and attach the new log so we can try to see where we are at now.
Here is a new FRST log.
While I am looking over this I need to give you this warning about what I have found…it is rather nasty and may have caused the damage that you are experiencing…
WARNINGUnfortunately one or more of the infections I have identified are Backdoor Trojans, IRCBots or other Malware capable of stealing very important information. You need to stop using all Internet Banking sites, change passwords to all sites with sensitive information from a clean computer and phone your bank to inform them that you may be a victim of identify theft. More often than not, we advise users that a full reinstallation of their Operating System is the only way to ensure that their computer will ever be 100% clean again.
Unfortunately I have found what is known as the ZeroAccess rootkit on your system. It is an especially nasty infection that can take quite some time to clean as well as may have damaged your system files itself. As a warning, during the cleaning (if you choose to do so) you may lose internet access with this computer and in the end we may need to reinstall the operating system anyway depending on the extent of the infection.
At this point would you suggest I reinstall windows or do you believe the problem can be fixed.
This is just my opinion but if it were MY system I would just reinstall. This infection is quite serious and is ever-changing. I would never be able to tell you that your system is secure due to the backdoor capability of this infection.
Could you walk me through the proper steps for that.
Do you have your Windows XP disc? If so, please get it ready.
Is there anything remaining on your system that you do not have saved that you find you will definitely need or do you have most everything backed up already?
No I don’t have the XP disc
No disc huh? Ok…
Go to Start >> Computer and then let me know what drives you have listed or if you can take a screenshot and attach that to your next reply so that I can see.
Would that be with the Reatgo desktop
Here is a screenshot of My Computer.
Hi,
I haven’t forgotten about you…I am just checking on something with a colleague.
Is that Reatogo disk what came with your system??
No that’s one I burned a copy from this site.
You asked me to take a screen shot of Start<<Computer and booting from this disc is the only way I was able to do that.
I apologize for this taking so long. I was looking for a recovery partition that normally comes with a Dell system since you do not have the installation disk and I don’t see one which is quite problematic.
You do realize that in April of next year that Windows XP will no longer be supported at all correct?
Yes I’m aware that XP will no longer be supported
Without the disk and without the partition it will be quite hard to reinstall.
How about you run a new scan with FRST and attach the new log that is created.
Yes I’m aware that not having the disc is problematic. I have two other DELL disc that came wit but cant locate the re-installation disc. Here is a new FRST. Thanks again.
