XP PRO just constantly reboots now...

A friend’s Pentium II 350 was having problems conecting to the internet. I assumed it was parlty that he had no anti-virus. I went to a restore point from a few months back and this resolved the connection issue. I tnen proceeded to download your free antivirus application. It prompted me to reboot and so I did. When it finished its boot scan, it rebooted again and now it is in a perpetual state of reboot. I went into bios and disabled the anti-virus, and I even tried to F8 to safe mode but it just continues to reboot once it gets past the XP Logo Start Screen.

Sounds like a conflict with another low-level application, possibly even another antivirus.
Try the “Last known good” configuration from the boot-menu.

Other possibilities could be malware/rootkit infection ::slight_smile:
See recent thread related to that http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=25982.0;topicseen

Tried it… it just went right back to rebooting.
