XP Service Pack 3 Security Center doesn't detect Avast...

I am running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 installed. Windows Security center doesn’t recognize that Avast is running and up to date.

  1. My system time and date are correct.
  2. I have followed the directions given http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=29739.0 . The problem persists.
  3. I have uninstalled Avast entirely, followed the directions in step two, restarted three times, then reinstalled Avast. The problem persists.
  4. Avast is set to update automatically and is up to date:

Any ideas what I can do to fix this problem?

Hi hazelnusse.
Just to confirm, you followed all the steps in Tech’s post to manually rebuild the repository, without attempting to use an unlocking program to delete the folder?
How many times did you reboot after doing that, but before you tried re-installing Avast?
(Once I found three reboots were needed. Usually one is adequate.)

Did you have any AV on this computer before Avast?
