XP SP2 kill my Avast home edition

About 2 months I like my new antivirus - Avast Home.

After Kaspersky it seem to me very good.

But when XP SP2 was installed, I get a crazy troube.
When Outlook Express started the system stand every 5-7 minutes
for 3-5 minutes.

About 2 days I try to break this problem.
No success.

Deinstall Avast and install eTrust.
Everything work good now.

Wait for Avast version compatibly XP SP2.

King regars to MS.

Hey Gs,
It’s radicalb21. First let me welcome you to the forum. First let me say the current version of Avast is Windows XP SP2 compatible. I have no problems on my system. Let me ask a couple of questions. Did you upgrade to XP SP2 with Avast already installed? It is typically not a good idea to have antivirus software running when upgrading your OS. I would suggest uninstalling avast and reinstalling and that should take care of the problem. Also make sure when you uninstall avast and then you delete the program folder for avast. Also go back and clean out your registry. I hope this helps. Also uninstall the other antivirus as well. It’s not a good idea to have two antivirus programs running in the background. It causes major problems.

Yes, I had Avast installed when install SP2.
About 3-4 days (after SP2 was installed) everything work good!!!
The problems started about 3-4 days after SP2.
No another software wer4e installed.

Now I uninstall Avast and install eTrust.
Only one antivirus - eTrust.
Everything work.

After I had downloaded SP2 several weeks ago, I shut down all running processes Including Avast and my Firewall ZA. then I installed SP2 and rebooted as requested by the system.
After SP2 was installed, both Avast! and ZA where recognized by SP2’s Security Center. My computer has been working like a charm ever since. no delays no problems no complaints.
I don’t know what else is running on your computer.
I can assure you the problem is not with Avast!

Hi,

I have to admit I did not shut down Avast (I should have done) but put on sevice pack 2 on to XP and Avast was recognised and I have had no conflicts at all. I am running XP firewall, Avast Home edit 4.1 and windows XP SP2

Sorry I can’t offer any advice.

Kind Regards

Jlo

Using SP2 in my native language few days ago.
I shut down all running processes including avast and my firewall Outpost Pro.
Then I installed SP2 and rebooted as requested by the system.
After boot, both avast! and Outpost where recognized by Security Center.

My computer has been working like a charm ever since. no delays no problems no complaints. 8)

я использую версию Windows XP SP2 X64, какую версию аваст приемлемо устанавливать на эту версию Windosws, или смотреть другие программы?

With XP SP2 it will possibly be avast version 12.x.xxxx that however may still require SP3.

С XP SP2 это, возможно, будет avast версии 12.x.xxxx, но, тем не менее, может потребоваться SP3.
