XP won't start in safe mode, but hangs on aswrvrt.sys

Same as many others.
I ran FRST after booting from the OTLPENET CD.

Log attached.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Shad

From the reatogo desktop select command prompt and type the following command :

chkdsk c: /r

Reboot on completion and try a normal boot

unfortunately, this results in “Cannot open volume for direct access.”

You appear to have two disc drives, could you disconnect the one that does not contain windows and then try a reboot

Chkdsk c: /r found 2 bad sectors and re-mapped them. Did a “normal” boot into windows, and everything seems to be working.

Thanks for your help!

Was this after you disconnected the second drive ?
