Hi guys.
I have the same issue from above quote.
Im unable to even start this image from the CD…
What error do you get when you try to start from a disc ?
Hi,
Thanks for replaying.
I’m not getting an error. Its starts loading the Reatogo and then suddenly it stops and turns loading the windows XP.
As XP wont boot it freezes immediately after the splash screens and XP logo seems to be dimmed.
btw all other symptoms are the same…
When I try to boot into safe mode It stops at aswrvrt.sys
Also, I have checked HDD and memory and hardware seems perfectly fine. Also switched SATA ports on the mobo and even changed the SATA cables but that didn’t help.
When I try to do windows repair by checking a disk with XP installation CD startup process also freezes when it should display current windows installations to choose from.
Do you have a USB available ?
Download Peazip to the desktop
Run and install the programme
As it installs this page will show, deselect the AVG ticks
Press decline and it will then install cleanly
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/peazip.jpg
Download the following files to the desktop … Right click the links and select save as…then select desktop
Right click OTLPE on your desktop and select …Open as archive
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/Unzup%20archive.png
Select OTLPE standard
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/select%20archive.PNG
Click Extract, ensure that desktop is selected
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/extract%20archive.PNG
Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/rufus.JPG
Select the ISO file on the desktop via the ISO icon.
Press Start Burn

Once the USB has burnt then
[*]Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to the flash drive.
[*]Reboot your system using the boot USB you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from USB follow the steps here
[]As the Programme needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads
[]Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
[]Locate the flash drive and run FSRT
[]The tool will start to run.
http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee362/Essexboy3/Farbar/FRST2.gif
[*]When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.
[*]It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
Thanks for the tut, I did everything accordingly but the same thing is happening.
Reatogo is starting to load and after it loads (Im not getting DESKTOP), screen becomes black for a moment and windows logo appear.
So Booting Reatogo is not successful.
I even enabled only booting from the USB and disabled all the rest, HDD, CD drive, Floppy but Im getting the same issue…
This is totally frustrating and its even worse knowing this was caused by Avast or some Avast-MS conflict :-\
Thanks for the tut, I did everything accordingly but the same thing is happening. Not evrything .... you have not attached the rquested frst logs, or was you not able to run it?
Yeah, sorry small misunderstanding… : I was not able to run REATOGO.
That would point to it be a system problem as Reatogo is a standalone operating system and any problems with windows would not affect it
As it is there is little I can do if you are unable to run the Reatogo desktop
You mean hardware issue?
I ran memtest for a few passes and it was all good! Also I have checked the HDD and it reported its all good.
I even reset the CMOS by removing the battery but problem remained.
Cant repair PC with the XP installation CD. Cant boot into a safe mode as it stops at mentioned file.
Is avast even source of this issue?
This may work but you will have to somehow access the CD
The most common cause is the executing PnP (Plug and Play) and ACPI routines issue.
To fix the issue, we need to access the computer from Recovery Console.
If you do have your Windows CD
[*]Insert the Windows XP cd in your computer.[*]Restart your computer so you are booting off of the CD.[*]When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press the R button on your keyboard to start the Recovery Console.[*]The Recovery Console will start and ask you which Windows installation you would like to log on to. If you have multiple Windows installations, it will list each one, and you would enter the number associated with the installation you would like to work on and press enter. If you have just one Windows installation, type 1 and press enter.[*]It will then prompt you for the Administrator’s password. If there is no password, simply press enter. Otherwise type in the password and then press enter.[*]If you entered the correct password you will now be presented with a C:\Windows> prompt and you can start using the Recovery Console.
Type following commmands, pressing Enter after each one.
[*]ren c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys atapi.old
(It will returns to the prompt again without notification)[*]copy c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\atapi.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers
(If you get a notification “1 file(s) copied” you don’t need to do the next expand command and go to exit command. But if you get notification that the file doesn’t exist proceed with expand command)[*]expand e:\I386\atapi.sy_ c:\windows\system32\drivers
(You should be notified that the file expanded)[*]exit
You may remove the CD or let Windows boot normally.
If you don’t have your Windows CD
Please download ARCDC from Artellos.com.
[*]Double click ARCDC.exe
[*]Follow the dialog until you see 6 options. Please pick: Windows Professional SP2 & SP3
[*]You will be prompted with a Terms of Use by Microsoft, please accept.
[*]You will see a few dos screens flash by, this is normal.
[*]Next you will be able to choose to add extra files. Select the Default Files.
[*]The last window will allow you to burn the disk using BurnCDCC
Then, follow instructions from Step #1 above.
Thank you for this new tut.
I will give it a shoot later this evening and let you know if that worked!
Fingers crossed.
I do have a CD but one I boot from it, setup process freezes and I never come to the point where I choose recovery console or install new windows…
Process is stuck at > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310760/
In your BIOS is the HDD set at IDE or SATA ?
Im not sure. Where can I check that?
Btw, it is connected to the SATA port and it was working properly for the previous 3 years.
I will check this setting and get back to you.
Im unable to find that setting in BIOS.
Can you help?
What is your computer make and model ?
OK…
mobo is: MSI-7529 version 1.1 (BIOS is updated to its latest version - checked)
cpu: Core 2 duo E6850
DDR2 - 2 x 1gb sticks
Graphics is integrated…
Do you need anything else?
This page has the various BIOS settings for sata - ide http://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/Support/TroubleSt.aspx#3_3
Click the sata link at this point under the main heading and it will take you to the correct part
No Boot (system does post)
• Hard drives not detected
• Hard drives are detected at boot
• SATA configuration
• RAID controller configuration
You probably wont belive me but I dont have options like those in the tutorial you gave me link for…
this is becoming more and more frustrating >:(
Without actually having my hands on the system I have just about reached the limit of what can be done online
