Ymmapi.dll not found Error

When I try to click on a email link I get a RUNDLL Error Message that says Error Loading C:\Windows\DOWNLO~1\ymmapi.dll and The specified module could not be found. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Do you have Yahoo email? If yes, it is ok to have this dll. If not, this might be a sign of a malware infection. Read more information here:

http://www.file.net/process/ymmapi.dll.html

If you do have Yahoo email and need this dll, it can be downloaded here:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ymmapi

I hope this helps you.

Yea I use Yahoo Email, I downloaded ymmapi.dll and extracted it. Is there someplace I should put the files so they work?

In the first link I posted above, it tells you at the beginning where this dll belongs.

Description: File ymmapi.dll is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files" (mostly C:\Program Files\YAHOO!\COMMON\).

So, it seems it should be here … C:\Program Files\YAHOO!\COMMON\

Ok I put them there but still get an error.

Better than just copying & pasting a file, it would be better to repair any installation of Yahoo that you need (maybe this refers to the Yahoo toolbar, do you use it?).

Yea I use the toolbar.

So, why don’t you try to install it again?
Or, if it fails, uninstall and install again from the scratch?

I reinstalled Yahoo Toolbar and Messenger and still didnt work. I did some more searching online for the Error and found on 1 site of the many postings of the error how to fix it. It was as simple as going to Tools - Internet Options - Programs then change the Email to Hotmail click apply then ok, then go back into there and change it back to Yahoo Email and it worked. Its funny how simple things are but frustrating when problems come up and is hard to find a fix for them.

Thanks for the feed back Matty I’m sure it could save others some grief.
