Your avast! antivirus has been updated - Spelling errors and oddities feedback.

Hi.

I just wanted to provide some feedback on the fairly new update page AVAST Software have set up. (The one you can now go to if you click the avast! Information virus definition update popup.)

Please see the image for my feedback.

Regards.

Please modify your PROFILE as your hotmail.co.uk email address is visible to spammers and scammers! :o

By the way, only you and the Moderators should be able to see it! ;D

Also

As of 31st July 2011, the Nez Tech Forum has been taken offline.
http://www.nezman.webs.com

I’m going to be blunt: I am sick of this.

I am sick and tired of you prancing around the forum telling other people how they should and should not share and distribute their own damn E. mail address.

No, I’m not modifying my E. mail address’s visibility just so it suits your own preferences. I simply cannot stand people like you who try to get people to change simply because they are not using settings or options which you are using.

“Please modify your PROFILE”? No. YOU please kindly back off. At least, back off me, if not everyone else. Your E. mail address privacy posts blatantly clog up topics unnecessarily, and I at least find it rather irritating.

That said, I appreciate that your heart is in the right place, what with trying to help protect people’s privacy and all. However, your brain I.M.O. blatantly is not in the right place on this, as you see fit to tell so many users in topics how much their E. mail address should not be public, and all this “Oh but you MUST change your E. mail address privacy!”, even though A: You are not any form of official avast! staff, and B: It’s not your bloody E. mail address, it’s theirs.

Look, if someone joins a forum on the Internet and makes their E. mail address publicly visible, that’s their own choice. If they are not aware that it is public, well then they obviously should have done the smart thing and checked/researched regarding E. mail address visibility options prior to setting up an account, shouldn’t they? Yes, of course.

I myself am not trying to act like avast! staff, nor an administrator or moderator. I am also not trying to be inconsiderate or nasty. I’m simply saying that I find this really annoying, off-topic, and somewhat topic disjointing.

Now, that’s quite some paragraphs, so I’ll end this post here. I will not speak further on this matter. Any future posts towards me from you (Or from anyone, for that matter.) asking me to change my account settings (Without any rational reasons.) will be blatantly ignored.

Furthermore, I am aware that my own Forum is offline, because I took it offline. This has nothing to do with this topic and is totally irrelevant.

Additionally, if you’d like to continue trying to coax me into changing my own settings, I’d much prefer it if you did so via forum private messages. Cheers.

Thank you and good day. None of my E. mail privacy settings were changed.

You are only 19 and have a lot to learn!

By the time you are the age of bob3160 and I you will have learned many things!

Settle down Naean and back off the coffee, Kenny was just trying to let you know that it was visable to everyone on the forum as alot of people dont know that there email is being seen by all ::slight_smile:

@Naean
If a little friendly advice isn’t welcome, then simply say thanks but no thanks.
Changing to decaff coffee is another alternative to laying off coffee, ;D

Probably needs decaf tea

Oooh someone got angry… Sorry for being OT, but I thought that Tails is supposedly a sweet-natured and humble fox

Hi Naean, thanks for this feedback. Everything here is supposed to be first checked by more than one native English speaker before going live, but due to working in “a fast-paced environment” (aka ‘chaos’), some small things slip through the cracks in terms of messaging. When I started a year ago, I was browsing the old websites (via archive.org) from almost 10 yrs ago, and I can tell you we’ve come a long way.

In the future, feel free to bring any textual problems directly to my attention at mashak@avast.com.

Thanks again,

You’re very welcome. Thank you for the response and direct contact details.

Much appreciated.

As for everyone else, please know that I am not angry, mad, etcetera. I am quite calm and collected.

I just stated what I felt had to be stated. But like I said, I will not speak any more on this.

Quite frankly i agree with Naean. I have my e-mail posted all over the web without any anti spam tricks and stuff and i’ve got maybe 5 spam messages ever since i started using Gmail. So why bother really?

Same here. Besides, SPAM can bring some of the funniest moments to my day. E.g. “Someone’s hot wife needs your attention!!!” ::slight_smile: Yeah, MY OWN!!!

My exposure has brought me lots of opportunities to become a Millionaire. ;D
I also use Gmail and these opportunities all showed up in the Spam folder.
