Your Avast license is still valid, and waiting for you!

Today, I received an email, supposedly from Avast (notification@emails.avast.com), asking, “Need help transferring your Avast? Have you got a new PC, or did you just reinstall your operating system? We ask, because we noticed you haven’t been using your Avast Internet Security. It would be a shame to waste the 661 days still left on your license, so why not reinstall it now?” This text is followed by a clickable button titled “Get Avast Back” – I did NOT click on it.

I always use Avast Internet Security, my subscription and virus definitions are up to date, and the product shows that my system is protected with all shields active.

Why would I be receiving this email? Is it some sort of phishing scam?

It is a scam if you ask me or a promotional mail from avast.

EDIT :
I’ve checked and it is a legitimate (promotional) mail from avast.

Thanks for letting me know it’s a scam! I was pretty sure it was a scam, but it contains just enough correct information (the number of days left in my licence) to lead you to believe it’s legitimate. >:(

Erm … if it’s a scam then how would the scammer know how many days remain on the licence?

Who says that it is accurate ?

The original poster says it’s accurate; " it contains just enough correct information (the number of days left in my licence) to lead you to believe it’s legitimate."
But I see you’ve now edited back from your certainty that it’s a scam.
