"Your copy of Windows 7 is not genuine." Error help!

This just started happening within the last week or so. I go to turn on my computer and I get a pop-up prompting me to validate my copy of Windows 7.
On my desktop, my background has become all-black, with a message saying “Windows 7, Build 7601, This copy of Windows is not geniune.” at the bottom, right corner of the screen.
When I attempt printing documents, i get a “splwow64.exe - bad image” message. I attached a screenshot of the message.

Could anyone help me fix this? I don’t want to have to system restore…

Try this to activate windows http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/activate-windows#1TC=windows-7

If it fails we will then have a deeper look

RE: Windows Validation - 2 different things can occur here:

  1. You just need to re-validate Windows - happens all the time - many people feel that the message makes them feel like a crook!

  2. M$ had a massive corruption on their license server database. I have seen many codes, Office, Windows XP, Windows 7 licenses that are genuine, that M$ says are not valid. I have seen it occur after years of service on HP Enterprise grade notebooks, that I activated years ago for my clients, that are now invalid. So, M$ does not always know what is a real code, and what is not a real code!

I would remove that printer driver, and reload that printer driver. That handles the situation over 90% of the time.

I have no option for Windows activation. I attempted to validate my copy online and Microsoft just prompted me to buy a new copy.

Go down to Activate using the telephone on the page I linked to and it will describe how to phone MS (free) and activate over the phone

So far, this image is the message I’m getting when I try to go to the activation options that the website’s instructions are prompting.

This may be one of those times that an original license from HP is NO longer valid (the M$ server database corruption issue, as I have seen it many times before, as I am also HP Authorized). If you have a valid COA for this OS on your HP system, then it is time to call HP and start bitching. Because the system is an HP system, M$ told us it was an HP issue, and not a M$ issue, even though it really is a M$ issue!
