"you've enjoyed Avast for a year!"... I have?

So I got the pop up message saying that I’ve enjoyed Avast for a year. I installed Avast in June of this year. I know it was June because my sister and her husband came to visit the baby I had recently gave birth to, and also to reformat my computer.
So, how can Avast be older than my child when Avast was installed AFTER my child’s birth?

Could you post a screenshot…!?

Was avast on the system before you decided to format it and install everything again ?

It doesn’t seem to pop up everyday or when I just put my computer to sleep mode, so at the moment I cannot provide a screenshot but I will do so once it happens again.

No, we were using a different antivirus program before.

If you happen to have missed it, try this - right click on the avast tray icon and select ‘Show last popup message.’

If you haven’t had another popup since that one or have rebooted the option will be greyed out as it is in the attached image.

this is the screenshot of the most recent message. Thanks for the tip on how to bring up the pop up again.

You’re welcome.

Strange that has a problem with date, as the main issue can be your system time/dat being correct, but your image shows it appears to be correct.

Try an avast Repair, Control Panel > Programs and Features > Avast Antivirus > Change - From the new window select Repair and OK your way out, reboot. This has resolved issues with dates being out of sync.

Obviously if that doesn’t work re-registering as suggested by Asyn isn’t much hassle. Probably quicker than the Repair.

I can only think of a few possible causes.

  • avast was licensed about a year ago
  • a flaw in the license processing

I would simply get a new license and see if that is working/solving things.
If not, a repair.
If that fails, a really clean installation.

Sorry, but it’s the Free version.
Simply re-register it’s the fastest fix.
