I have Zone Alarm 5.5.094 and have no problems with Avast. Now Zone Alarm wants me to update it to its new version 6. I have not done so up to this point. Before I do, I would like to know if anyone has updated their Zone Alarm, and if so have any problems shown up? Of course I have the free version and remember reading lots of posts about problems with the Zone Alarm paid for version and Avast.

This was the free version of Zone Alarm and I just downloaded it a few weeks ago. Are they trying to have me download the Zone Alarm Pro version that you have to pay for?
If so, I have read all the info that has been offered in the forums using the Search feature and won’t download the update.

After you download ZA, you are given the choice during installation, either to install the Pro version as a 30 day trial (which, after the 30 days, becomes the free version) or to directly install the free version.
Apparently this new update is an update of the free version, which is just the basic firewall, so I imagine it wouldn’t give any more problems than the one that I have already.(I hope!)

Installed the new version of ZAF the other day. No problems whatsoever. 
I just installed the update and everything seems to be working correctly, and it saved my old settings. Although, when I let the program restart my computer, it froze, so I had to shut the computer down manually and start it up again.

The problem is between Privacy control in ZA PRo and Webshield. So, if you are using ZA free version, dont have worry about
i would go for it because it might have fixed bugs
Although many users here are not experiencing any difficulties with the latest Zone Alarm update, other users are experiencing crashes that deals with the blue screen appearing. Most topics that I found in Zone Alarm forum regarding about the problem from the latest Zone Alarm update aren’t being responded from any help. The only response I found was a link to troubleshooting form. I send you a pm that gives you a link to 6.0.631.003 download. You can still download the 6.0.667.000 version and see if you’re getting any problems. If not, wonderful! Keep the program, if yes, remove it and go for the early versions for now.
I still think Zone Alarm is a great firewall, been with it for almost four years. ;D

same problem on 2 different computers : crash when opening the browser (bsod) and reboot automatic with the other computer . win xp and za free last version. there was no problem with za old version …

ok but the last french version is 5.5.109.000 
i recommended my friends to uninstall za and keep using xp/s firewall, even if it’s far for perfect…
No problems here (so far) with the ZA 6.0 (free) “final” release.
I’m not even sure what they changed in this version, maybe nothing at all in the free version. But this time around they’re fairly insistent on doing a “clean” install, rather than as an upgrade, which means having to re-do setup preferences and program permissions from scratch.
Here too… smoothly, I strong recommend the last (final) update.
