I have used Avast 4 Home for some time with XP SP2 firewall.
I have installed the latest Zonealarm Free, but it detects Avast trying to dial-out when I am offline. I have been unaware of this happening up until now. How do I stop it?

Please read them.
If you need more help, please provide more details about exactly what is going on.
What OS, what other security (related) software is installed, etc etc…
In fact, there is no ‘dialer’ in avast! not a disconnect feature.
avast checks if there is an available connection each 40 seconds. If there isn’t, wait more 40 seconds to check. Checking does not take more than one second and, of course, does not use the Internet band. If there is a connection, check for an update. If there is not any new file to download, wait 4 hours to start checking again. If there is an available update, start it and install it. Again, wait 4 hours to check the next time.
Some of this settings could be configurated different, I posted the default values.
Which ‘program’ or driver asked to connect through Zone Alarm? avast.setup ?
