I just installed this new release of ZoneAlarm (free version).
Can the avast team confirm that this version contains the driver update that has been discussed as a problem in other threads?

a friend of mine who installed it says it works now !
BUT, he had to set the level of protection of internet zone to “average” for za lets the traffic pass…
did you experience the same thing ?
I just can’t sit still! Have to try it and I’ll see if I get any BSOD again!
Hope you won’t get any bsod
But I still can’t use privacy options as the should work. I mean site exclusions is not working and still everything is blocked! So, I just turned off privacy control. ;D
The crash should indeed be fixed in this ZA release. I got a confirmation from a ZoneLabs programmer that this release includes the fix.
Thanks
Vlk
( Maybe I’m wrong but I think this thread should be “inside” General Topics", not here )
Still no fix as far as I can see privacy controls still need to be off, but I don’t care
Seems everything works. Upgraded to Pro demo to see how additional features works, but left privacy control disabled as I can live without all these privacy goodies! Just wanted to see if it works. Seems they works not in that way they need to work. No BSOD till now…

I have the internet zone protection set to high … working for me (so far).

this topic belongs here because a ZoneAlarm driver has been identified by the avast team as being in conflict with the avast antivirus product.

Right. Event though it had NOTHING to do with avast - because of this bug, the ZA driver was crashing even when avast was not even installed (it was not really a “conflict”)… Avast made the situation somewhat more likely but there are many other programs that behaved similarly (all they need to do is use asynchronous I/O system calls).
Thanks

Vlk,
my apologies for my inappropriate choice of “in conflict”. I should have said that avast users were the innocent victims of an error in the ZoneAlarm driver.
Kudos to the avast team for detecting and reporting the problem in their product.
ok it works install of za had unticked “allow sending datas” in advanced zones configuration… ???
no more BSOD or reboot ! great!
ZoneAlarm 6.1.737.000 (free) working ok for me (avast + XP SP2).
No problems witg Pro too ;D
I’m using the pro versio too.Privacy control is disabled.Do i need spyware protections since i have microsoft antispyware and can this make some conflicts?
I really need help about zone alarm.I want to stop the program behevior monitoring. It asks me about every program…
It shouldn’t hurt… But, of course, two antispywares and one antivirus could take a lot of resources.
It’s up to you to make the balance on protection and performance.
Try to set program control level from High to Medium. I have only several warnings per day about suspicious behavior. If you want to disable these warnings at all - set level to Low (but I can’t say I recommend you to do it)
Yes because that just destroying what firewall is meant to do. Turning to Low is not a wise thing to do. ;D
