Since I updated to the last version, ZoneAlarm does not “AutoLock” anymore.
Any suggestions as to how to correct?
You don’t say what version of avast or zone alarm you are using?
avast! shouldn’t have any effect on the autolock, all it could do is if a file is launched to autolock, if there were a virus issue avast would warn, but it can’t and doesn’t block.
This may well be a coincidence, I would suggest that you download the latest version of Zone Alarm, go off-line, uninstall ZA, boot and install the latest version.
AVAST 4.6.731
ZA 6.0.667
It seems as if a module is constantly asking for INet access and the ZA Clock is reset ???
I have two computers and the other (not ipdated) does not show this behaviour.
???
What module? can’t you tell from the ZA logs?
avast doesn’t connect to the internet unless you already have an internet connection established (avast auto update checking), it can’t initiate them.
I would have though that the only thing that could update the ZA clock would have been ZA making the request.
Sorry if this isn’t much help it is some years since I lact used ZA.
What is ZA Clock? ??? :
Tech,
the autolock feature of ZoneAlarm allows you to specify that the lock should engage after x minutes of system inactivity.
I believe hdpete is saying that something in his system is activated periodically which causes ZA to reset the inactivity timeout counter.
It might be the avast!'s check for new versions. It tries every 4 hrs to download the update, if it fails it will try to ping our servers every 40sec to detect the connection is allright again.
I don’t know how exactly this autolock feature work but you might want to click the “I am permanently connected to the Internet” checkbox and skip the pings.
