1012.exe

After hearing about avast for years, I finally installed it within the last month. I have 30 things in my virus check–all but 3 are the 1012.exe. Several times a week I get the notice that something was detected and I was invited to do a boot scan. I did that every time it popped up for the first ten days and then it took so long I only do it once or twice a day.

This is on a Dell XPS laptop running Win 7. if that is important. I have been using it for the last little while since my desktop sometimes boots and sometimes doesn’t. I will tackle that later.

I googled and really couldn’t find anything current on this 1012.exe. I’m hoping someone can give me some advice.

Thanks! I just joined the forum and am looking forward to learning a lot.

Sue

Hi,Warm Welcome to Avast!

Attach all logs here on next reply and a malware remover will help you out.

Here is the MB, attached. And then the two FUBAR logs and finally the aswMBR log.

This is the first time I have done this so I hope I have followed the instructions. Thanks so much for the help.

Do not forget to turn on your previously switched-off protection software!

Sorry for the delay. I have lost some of my icons in my taskbar, one of them avast so I couldn’t turn off the anti-virus the way the instructions said. Took me a bit to figure out how to do it.

And I used to be able to see a drop down box to be able to move icons to the taskbar. That is gone. Also, my Wunderlist isn’t functioning. That icon is gone, too. When I click on the program on the desktop I get this message A device attached to the system is not functioning.

I haven’t tried many other programs.

Thanks for all your help! Did you find the problem?

Naathim,

I know you are taking the weekend off–I imagine you deserve it! Just wanted to update you on my progress, or lack of it so you have the latest when you are able to work on this again.

Still getting 1012.exe notifications. Also got notification of a virus in some other files through Wondershare program.

Thank you for being available for this.

Sue

Hi. I hadn’t a weekend off - instead I had a Sunday filled totally with work, as I am a lecturer and my students were having their second attempt to pass me ;D

I don’t even see any signs of 1012.exe in these logfiles. Will search for it deeper.

Also got notification of a virus in some other files through Wondershare program.
Can you post me a report or a screenshot?

Did your students succeed in their second attempt?

Would the virus chest give you what you need? If so, I will read up on how to do screenshot and include that.

I think I followed the instructions carefully.

Savedailydeals was listed on the program list but got a message it had already been deleted.

Here is the fixlog.txt

I’d prefer the report from the chest, unless the screensht will be large enough to present both detections & filepaths.

When it comes to my students I am a quite demanding teacher and I teach a quite demanding subjects, so notall of them were able to pass. However, they have still got the third attempt in two weeks
I’m not that easy ;D

You sound like me as a teacher, Naathim! I have students from years ago contact me to thank me for what I helped them do. At the time, they were very resistant.

I don’t know how to do a report in Avast on the virus chest. I don’t think a screenshot(if I knew how to do it) would give you the information you need.

I will keep searching for a way to give you a report on the virus chest or how to do a screen shot.

thanks for your help!

Sue

This is a quick try. A screenshot of the virus chest (half of it) with the screen moved to give the most information. If this helps, I will send the other half. There are 42 in the virus chest now.

Sue

That’s it!

Sorry not for providing more detailed instructions, I’m currently running home from my workplace and typing from mobile. Try to post couple of screenshots, containing all the info from the chest.

Cheers,
Minion

No problem in not providing step by step instructions. I am learning a lot by researching myself. Here are the complete screen shots for the virus vault. I haven’t taken time to look them over but I can do that if I need to retake something.

No hurry on your reply. My laptop still works in spite of all that is in the virus vault. My desktop is another story!

Sue

Hi,

your screenshots tell me that there are some Windows Updates available to be installed.

Yes, I have not installed them since I was away from home and not connected to the internet except through my phone. Can’t give the cell company all that $$ for downloads.

When I got home I wasn’t sure I should install the updates until the 1012.exe got fixed. Would you like me to install them now?

Thank you so much.

Sue

Just skip the updates for now.
