well every time I try to upgrade to 2015 it does something to my registry “Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)” and I get no keyboard. First the grime fighter fiasco and now this. I’ve had to roll back each time I know my way around a computer but I cant get windows to reinstall and repair the registry no matter what I do. And rewriting the registry is a little beyond me. The only reason I tried to upgrade is because im getting slow start-up logs from you guessed it avast. cant upgrade cant use grime fighter and windows takes 5 minutes to boot up because the 2014 version has gone spastic. This kind of rubbish is why I left avg 2 years ago. And before that I swore id never let Norton dig its claws into my pc again but I don’t know I’m getting pretty sick of this. anybody having the same issues and if so any ideas. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything keyboard related but its the actual base Microsoft driver having an issue with its registry key from what it says. I have a razer black widow keyboard but I think the problem is well before that. Id like to know why an avast update is rewriting registry entries for keyboards. I’ve rolled back and selectively reinstalled twice its definitely avast. any ideas of what I could try would be appreciated I can always roll back again if it causes problems. thanks. this virtual keyboard is getting old fast.

My first post was possibly more angry than informative so I will try to add some actual information.
As stated I have done rollbacks to be certain the avast upgrade from 14 to 15 is the issue
On startup the leds on the razor keyboard light up and I am able to use the keyboard to access setup etc
once windows boots the leds remain on but the keyboard is no longer functional
entering windows with the virtual keyboard I access the razer keyboard software it informs me no compatible devices are plugged in and cannot proceed
opening devices and printers windows accepts the device is plugged in but not functional it suggests that drivers for both razer and HID keyboard device require driver upgrades " Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) " I let the troubleshooter proceed it returns with failed seek more options online blah blah. This is mirrored in the device manager. I have tried upgrading, uninstall,reinstall Uninstall then reboot disable reboot nothing will convince windows to reconfigure the device, my understanding was that removing the device should also clear the registry and the keyboard being plug and play should rewrite itself on startup. I can find no entries in any of the logs as far as errors. And Windows wont accept the need to remove or rewrite the registry. If I knew how to find the correct entries I could find older ones and overwrite avasts changes but that’s a bit beyond me. Any suggestions on where I could educare myself to locate those entries would be good it would be a usefull thing to learn regardless cheers.

Thanks for your help Ill put them in hopefully it can be sorted. after creating these logs I did the next step wasn’t sure If I was meant to but the aswmbr scan stopped due to an error three times in a row no log but it stopped at C:\windows\system32\drivers\rdyboost.sys I only recently started that due to performance issues. But I wont change anything till somebody has a look. A new hdd and fresh windows install have been on my mind for a while maybe this is a sign its time to clean house.
