Install requires at least the 2-step reboot process, maybe more.
After initial boot after install, icon appears in taskbar tray but with a red X. You cannot interact with the program. No response from the taskbar tray or from running the app from the desktop icon. Sometimes you can see a red “unprotected” message briefly flash above the taskbar try icon - I don’t know if that comes from hovering, single-clicking, or double-clicking, because Avast is a slow to respond as it always has been.
After a second boot, UI works
After third boot, UI reverted to fully inaccessible again.
Eventually, if I click, double-click, click, double-click the Avast icon, it puts up a black window with the text “Sorry, we’ve crashed”, a link “Try restarting your Antivirus,” and an Exit button.
If I click the restart link, it shows “Loading - this shouldn’t take long”, which redisplays a few times, spins its wheels a few times, then finally does work.
This is not acceptable. Program is up-to-date.
