High :), I run win2k ,and I installed the hack for 256 color tray icons(like windowsXP), all of the tray icons are now displaying in 256color, but the Avast Home edition tray icons are still in 16 color mode…Any ideas?

no dice
For some reason, the hack is not working here with avast…
I hope someone who understand better about graphics could post an opinion or solution (Sasha? Where are you? How about your son? ;)).
Well, really the "hacK’ just changes a few lines in explorer.exe to enable 256 color tray icon support, winME and XP have this “hack” enabled by default
Well, we’re detecting if we’re running under XP+, and if so, using a different set of tray icons (256 color instead of 16 color). So that’s why it doesn’t work…

Is there any way i can make it think its under XP? or to force 256 color icons?
bumpity bump bump
Sorry, I have no idea how the patch works. Avast isn’t doing anything special - it just loads the icons from the resources and uses the shell API to place it to the tray.
Maybe the patch only works for system icons (?)
