Why has this msgbox been on my screen for an hour?

Using the Performance graphic for Avast.Setup (the heading on the msgbox is “avast! Antivirus Setup”) the %Processor Time has been a consistent zero the whole time. Clicking cancel produces the query re “Update did not finish… interrupting with not be updated and may become corrupted.” I have zero internet activity (send/receive lights on modem are steady on). The virus defs were updated in the past 2 hours revealing that Avast can communicate with home.

Seems a temporary glitch on the servers. If you boot, does it continue?
