4.8 web scanner service terminated

I’ve looked through several posts but all i can find is fixes for older versions of avast. i’m running version 4.8 on Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and 2.0.0.14 and getting the following error:

The avast! Web Scanner service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s).

i have terminated web shield, but i’m wondering if there is a fix for the problem.

Try repair avast by going Add and Remove Programs>> Avast>> Repair.

i still get the same error message. i have also tried removing the program and re-installing and i get the same error.

Have you tried uninstall avast with aswClear.exe?

1.Download aswClear.exe on to your desktop.

2.Start Windows in Safe Mode

3.Open (execute) the uninstall utility

4.Click REMOVE

5.Restart your computer

Afetr finish uninstall then try reinstall back avast.
